George Cooper is an experienced young chef making a name for himself in WA’s Margaret River region. Hailing from the UK, 30-year-old George and his wife Kayleigh moved to WA in 2012 and chose to live in the south west largely because of the abundance of fresh produce available in the region.
After stints in high profile winery kitchens, George and Kayleigh created Food by the Chef – a private dining experience providing unique and memorable dining in people’s homes and holiday accommodation. Food by the Chef was born from an increasing number of requests from friends and associates for George to cater for their in-home events.
George matches classic ingredients with modern culinary techniques to create food that is both delicious and exciting. He enjoys pushing boundaries and featuring local in-season produce, much of which he grows himself. He works closely with local growers, foragers, butchers and fishmongers to give guests a true experience of local produce and is very passionate about delivering a sustainable and exciting dining experience.
George’s background in English Michelin plays a big part in his drive, dedication and passion for what has become the most unique and sought after private dining experience in the Margaret River region.
George has been a guest chef at Margaret River Gourmet Escape, Taste of Perth, Truffle Kerfuffle and the Gascoyne Food Festival. He has worked in kitchens across England and Australia and worked in many of Margaret River’s best winery restaurants. He has also appeared in the first series of BBC's British Masterchef The Professionals.
